POSITION SUMMARY:
This full-time, full-year professional position coordinates and facilitates programming, training and dialogue on topics of diversity, equity and inclusion in the residential halls and coordinates the Annual Student Conference on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice. This position also provides direct student support related to educating the campus about diversity and inclusion and supports underrepresented students on campus. This position requires working nights and weekends as needed.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Annual Student Conference on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice
Co-chair the planning committee for the Annual Student Conference on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice with student co-chair, including administration of the conference
Supervise student intern serving as the co-chair for the conference committee by meeting regularly with intern to support and follow up on their tasks, complete internship paperwork, and evaluate intern performance and contribution
Residence Life and Housing DEI Programming and Training
Work collaboratively with Residence Life and Housing professional and student staff to plan, create and facilitate programming in the residence halls
Coordinate and facilitate the training provided by the MLDO for Resident Assistants
Coordinate and facilitate the training provided by the MLDO for the professional Residence Life and Housing staff
Advise Residence Life and Housing staff on diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice related matters in the residence halls
Programming and Workshops
Assist with planning, scheduling, assessing and facilitating programs and workshops for students, faculty and staff working collaboratively in support of the MLDOmission
Public Relations and Promotion
Assist Assistant Director in coordinating social media initiatives
Assist with facilitating COR 101 presentations and ally development workshops with other MLDO staff and volunteers
Attend and support student programming, including evening and weekend programs such as the Voice Office events, late night events, Diversity Conference, trips, meetings and events hosted by student organizations
Service to Campus Community
Serve on committees, councils or working groups where representation of MLDO is important to help serve students of historically marginalized populations
Professional Development and Collaboration
Keep up on student affairs and higher education trends that relate to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Attend professional development opportunities as resources allow
Build relationships with on-campus and off-campus stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required by time of appointment
Experience working with and supporting underrepresented student populations
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in higher education and student development.
Conversational fluency in a language other than English
