Pro Advisors play a vital role in supporting students’ successful transition to college and career. Working collaboratively with faculty academic advisors, this position guides university expectations and resources while assisting students in developing personalized academic and personal success plans. The ProAdvisor delivers comprehensive, proactive, and developmentally appropriate support that promotes student growth in academic, personal, and professional areas.
Note: Two positions are currently available.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide Personalized and Effective Transitional Advising
Provide holistic, proactive, and comprehensive transitional advising to majors in the assigned College or School.
Collaborate with the Dean and faculty advisors of the assigned College or School for the purpose of understanding all majors/programs and supporting faculty advisors.
Collaborate with the Dean and faculty advisors in the assigned College or School on matters related to student success and retention specific to each of the majors/programs.
Communicate effectively with academic advisors and faculty (within and across the Schools/College) on matters related to student success and retention.
Establish effective partnerships with university colleagues to support student success and retention initiatives.
Provide proactive, individualized, and major/program-specific support to each student including review of their degree plan and the resources necessary to ensure engagement and success.
Serve as a liaison between students and key campus resources, including the Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, Learning Services, Library, Career Services, Student/Residence Life, and other university services.
Monitor student progress by accessing and analyzing key academic data including attendance, mid-term grades, course registration, course withdraws, incompletes, credit recovery, and GPAs.
Based on the analysis of key academic data, act on behalf of the student by providing student interventions/referrals as needed and communicating with academic advisors and appropriate faculty.
Support students in their academic journey by helping them identify and overcome obstacles to success.
Guide students in setting and achieving individual goals while fostering personal accountability.
Maintain Student Confidentiality
Maintain accurate and confidential records, collect data, and prepare reports related to advising, planning, evaluation, and assessment.
Ensure compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and regulations.
Participate in Student Intervention, Recruitment, and Orientations
Participate in university events related to recruiting, alumni relations, and orientation, including Open Houses, Homecoming, and similar activities.
Work occasionally in the evenings and weekends in support of student needs, opportunities, and/or events.
Participate in Professional Growth and Responsibilities
Engage in professional development opportunities focused on student success and retention.
Utilize data to identify critical trends and challenges related to student engagement in the assigned majors. Share trends and challenges with the Dean and Provost.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal, cultural competency, and communication skills to engage effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff.
Exhibit excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
Communicate effectively through both oral and written formats, including group presentations.
Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment, managing fluctuating workloads and meeting deadlines.
Provide outstanding customer service to students, families, and the campus community.
Utilize Microsoft Office, Canvas, Jenzabar, early alert monitoring tools, and web-based communication platforms.
Demonstrate a commitment to the mission of the university.

Salary Range:
$50,000 to $55,000/year
(Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications).

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in education, counseling, student development, or a related field required.
Minimum of two years of experience in academic support, advising, retention, transition programs, or related areas in a higher education setting.
