Position Summary
The Office of the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs offers a comprehensive range of services to students in the College of Arts and Letters. The office takes a student-centered approach in its efforts to help students endeavoring to give each student as much individualized attention as possible. Since student issues often extend beyond the purview of this office, the staff maintain constant communication with all campus entities to provide students with the best possible assistance. The mission of this office is to enhance the student's college experience by providing assistance that will support the student's primary educational goal: attaining a degree.
The Administrative Support Coordinator serves as the front office receptionist for the College of Arts and Letters Student Success Center and Assistant Dean's Office and provides support in the following areas: outreach and communication; coordination and tracking of student petitions and grievances; coordination and tracking of scholarships; budget maintenance; data collection; daily office functions; special projects; and events such as Commencement, Explore SDSU, and New Student Orientation.

Full-time, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
This position is physically located at the SDSU Main Campus in San Diego.
Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a university setting.
Experience working as a front office receptionist.
Experience greeting and communicating instructions and information to customers.
Experience creating flyers, newsletters, and reports.
Experience assisting at special events.
Budget experience.
Experience with data entry and downloading and interpreting database records.
Experience with SIMS/R and SDSU's Web Portal.
Lead and/or supervisory experience.
Experience coordinating administrative functions for a group.
Specialized Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $3,276 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,276-$5,148 per month.
SDSU Vaccine Policy
In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated for five months after their final dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or for two months after receiving the only dose of a single-dose vaccine. Afterward a COVID-19 booster is required to continue to be considered fully vaccinated.
The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university's secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU's COVID-19 testing program.
