Our Institution: Founded in 1860, Bard College is an international network of highly innovative and admired educational institutions grounded in the liberal arts and sciences. A division of Bard located in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, Bard College at Simon?s Rock is the only four-year college in the U.S. specifically designed for motivated adolescents to fully realize their academic potential by beginning college immediately after the 10th or 11th grade. BA and AA degrees are granted in over 35 areas of study. For over 50 years, Simon?s Rock has practiced the simple yet radical idea that many students are ready for college before the age of 18, an idea that launched the Early College movement in the United States and beyond. In 2015, Simon?s Rock launched Bard Academy, a two-year high school program for boarding and day students, with courses designed and taught by college professors and leading to entry into college after the tenth grade. In doing so, Simon?s Rock has connected high school and college in one cohesive, coherent six-year arc. In 2019, Simon?s Rock established the Early College Research Institute (ECRI), a locus for research into "what?s next" in Early College. In 2023, Simon?s Rock launched the Bard Queer Leadership Project, a B.A. degree program designed for, and by, LGBTQIA college students, aiming to elevate LGBTQIA college graduates into leadership roles in fields across the workforce.
The Role: The Deputy Title IX Coordinator, in consultation with the Title IX Coordinator, oversees and coordinates the Institution?s compliance with Title IX of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Reporting to the Vice Provost, The Deputy Title IX Coordinator is responsible for ensuring faculty, staff and students understand their rights and responsibilities under the law and for overseeing the Institution's response to complaints and concerns involving discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator coordinates all sexual misconduct investigations and develops educational programs regarding discrimination and sexual harassment prevention.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administration and Management:
?Coordinates and oversees investigations of allegations and complaints of alleged discrimination, sexual harassment and gender based misconduct.
?Conducts intake interviews and provides initial and ongoing outreach.
?Assists with data collection and identifies systemic problems relating to complaints of gender and sex discrimination including potential revisions to the institution?s Equity and Title IX policiesand increased education and prevention efforts..
?Provides consultation and guidance to the Office of Student Affairs and the Office of Human Resources on sexual misconduct investigations and applicable procedures and relevant laws.
?Serves as a liaison (internally and externally) to develop working relationships with other Institutional departments, local law enforcement, legal representatives, and victim advocacy organizations to ensure appropriate policies, procedures, and memorandum of understanding are in effect.
?Maintains records using behavior intervention software related to sexual misconduct and Clery-reportable incidents.
?Other duties as assigned.
Policy Development, Review, and Assessment:
?Assists the Title IX Coordinator to develop, maintain, implement, and communicate sex/gender discrimination and sexual harassment policies.
?Ensures dissemination of policies and information in compliance with Title IX, VAWA, Clery and other related federal, state and local laws.
?Assists the Title IX Coordinator with managing campus-wide Title IX campus climate survey administration, survey result distribution in collaboration with campus partners identify programmatic recommendations based on survey results.
?Prepares and maintains statistical, demographic, and subject matter data related to Title IX complaints and trends to include in internal reports, the annual Clery Reports, and generally for widespread (campus and non?campus) publication and distribution.
Collaboration, Training, and Programming:
?Creates a collaborative Title IX response through prevention, awareness, and educational initiatives with Institution stakeholders including the Office of Student Affairs, Human Resources, Public Safety, the Wellness Center, and Academic Affairs.
?Works collaboratively with the Dean of Students and Equitable Community on trainings related to Title IX and other equity-based investigations/trainings.
?Develops, implements, and conducts educational programs and initiatives designed to educate and support faculty, staff, and students regarding their rights ando including reporting options/responsibilities, support services, institutional policy and applicable disciplinary code, grievance procedures, confidential resources, etc.
?Develops and disseminates educational materials and publications.
?Assists the Title IX Coordinator with training for all mandatory reporters, hearing and appeal officers, Student Affairs and Human Resources staff; Title IX training for student leaders and student employees; and posting of training materials in compliance with Title IX.
?Presents educational sessions across the campus on Title IX prevention and response.
?Develops and implements educational initiatives and tracking mechanisms for faculty and staff training, including providing training for new employees and ensuring compliance with ongoing training requirements by all mandated employees.
REQUIRED
?Master?s degree in higher education administration, social work or related field.
?Minimum of 3 years? experience working in a higher education Title IX Office or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
?Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
?Prior completion of sexual violence investigation, prevention, and/or response training with a nationally recognized organization.
?Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional policies and practices.
?Experience conducting investigations alleging sexual misconduct.
?Ability to investigate, analyze and assess factual complaints Ability to operate calmly and effectively under stressful conditions.
?Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
?Excellent organizational, written and communication skills. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and be proactive.
?Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
?Experience designing and delivering highly impactful programs and services.
?Ability to work evenings and weekends on-site and/or at home.
?Strong computer skills including: MS Office (Word and Excel), Outlook, PowerPoint.
