Position Summary: This position's primary location is the Cullowhee, NC campus.

As a public, regional institution, part of our mission is to support and foster civic responsibility and engagement through advocacy, service, giving, and civic engagement/involvement in our community. The Assistant Director of Civic and Community Engagement plays a pivotal role in fulfilling this mission.
This position is dedicated to developing and executing comprehensive civic engagement programming that includes recruiting and managing volunteers, organizing advocacy and educational events, and collaborating with internal and external groups to promote social responsibility.
The Assistant Director also coordinates voter registration and early voting initiatives, manages civic engagement messaging across campus, and oversees election-related logistics such as polling site operations and transportation. Additionally, the role involves administrative duties such as website management, student employee supervision, and other operational tasks crucial for supporting the university and Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning's mission.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position:
Proficiency with PC systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Adobe, etc.
Ability to utilize Zoom and Microsoft Teams virtual meeting platforms
Basic proficiency in digital marketing software such as Canva, Microsoft Publisher, etc.
Basic proficiency in utilizing social media platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram
Ability to quickly build genuine, trusting relationships with a range of people
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including for public outreach
High organizational and self-motivating skills, with strong follow-through abilities
Resourcefulness and problem-solving skills
Self-reflective, active listening, and a life-long learning orientation
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position:
Minimum Qualifications: Must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for employment sponsorship. Bachelors degree from an accredited institution.A minimum of 1 year of administrative work experience in civic engagement, community development, non-profit experience, or a similar role (note: relevant graduate assistantships demonstrating professional experience).
Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree from an accredited institution Knowledge of National, Regional, and Local voter processes, laws, and rights
