Supporting our students’ academic, personal, and professional success, the Associate Dean sets the vision and direction for a residential experience that complements the College’s individualized liberal arts education. As a member of the College’s student affairs leadership team, this position leads staff and collaborates across campus to develop a seamless living-learning experience and a positive community that contributes directly to student development and success.

Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Development
Provide development, inspiration, and oversight to all aspects of the housing and residential life program including but not limited to housing operations, occupancy management, living-learning experiences, residence life programming model, and community engagement.
Provide leadership during campus emergency and crisis situations to ensure safety, communication, and expectations for on-campus students. Will serve as one of the College’s Hurricane Shelter Managers.
Will be responsible for adherence to FERPA and some private data and is considered a mandatory reporter for Title IX.
Supervision & Community Collaboration
Develop and implement strategies applying best practices for housing and residence life programs to enhance staff effectiveness, teamwork, community, and professional development.
Directly supervise an Assistant Director of Housing, Assistant Director of Residential Life, and Coordinator of Administrative Services. Oversight of all Housing and Residence Life staff to include Area Coordinators/Hall Directors, Resident Assistants, and a residential community of 500 students.
Develop and manage on-call rotation and act as a senior on-call administrator responding to community needs.
Represent the department on College-wide committees including but not limited to Threat Assessment Team, Student Support Team, and hiring committees.
Direct and indirect communication with campus and broader constituents to support a safe, secure, and positive residential experience.
Administration & Operations
Maintain a comprehensive operational plan for housing and residence life. Publish and uphold policies, procedures, and standards for the Department within the overall mission and goals of the College.
Manage occupancy processes including but not limited to contract management, opening and closing procedures, assignments, health and safety inspections, billing, and room inventories.
In conjunction with the General Counsel and the Director of Community Education and Standards (Conduct), ensure that New College of Florida remains compliant with applicable housing and residential experience laws and regulations.
Develop annual rent schedules and direct these through the College’s approval process.
Collaborate with the Facilities department to respond to facilities requests and needs.
Administrative oversight over multiple operational budgets including Housing Auxiliary, E&G funds, and Foundation funds.
Collaborate with Communications and Marketing and Admissions to promote housing options, actively participating in admissions-related events.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree or experience at the Directors Level in Student Affairs and five years of relevant experience. Experience with budgetary responsibility and management over live-in staff.
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a student-centered educator with demonstrated leadership experience in housing and residence life programs developing administrative processes and policies that deliver a positive residential community. Experience with the Florida State University System (SUS); knowledge of Banner 9 software, and proficiency with the Microsoft Suite. Experience with Erez Housing applications, Maxient Conduct Systems.
