Campus Recreation is a department within the Division of Student Affairs that provides fitness, wellness and recreation programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the following: The Activities and Recreation Center (ARC), Living Well Program, Rec Sports, Sports Clubs, Equestrian Center, Craft Center, Aquatics Program, Youth Programs, the UC Davis Marching Band (UCDMB) and UC Davis Health Fitness Center. Campus Recreation's mission is to support wellbeing, health, happiness and a sense of belonging for the UC Davis campus community
Job Summary
Under general supervision of the Director of the UC Davis Marching Band (UCDMB) serve as Assistant Director(Coordinator) of UCDMB, providing musical, professional, and administrative leadership to ensure the success of the Band. Includes working closely with the UCDMB student leaders Dance Team captains, the Department of Campus Recreation, and Intercollegiate Athletics. This position is responsible for the business and administrative aspects of UCDMB including program management, supervision, student development, and facility management. Instruction of the band is also part of the position. Responsibilities include assisting with fundraising events, travel arrangements, inventory management, budget planning, etc. The position provides leadership and training for UCDMB members with expectations and policies related to Band activities.
Lift musical equipment and program supplies weighing up to 50lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Travel in and out of state.
Work frequent evenings/nights, and weekends.
Flexible hours depending on program needs.
Position is a mandatory reporter for known or suspected child abuse and requires that a statement acknowledging the requirement to report child abuse be signed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in music
Experience leading and directing a marching band program at the high school or collegiate level.
Experience with equipment inventory and management.
Experience providing group training on topics such as membership requirements, risk management, working with student code of conduct, sexual harassment prevention, hazing policies and prevention, and other policies and procedures.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
Organizational skills to plan large events effectively and to schedule and arrange for performances, including in- and out-of-state travel.
Budgeting and financial skills to monitor daily business expenditures, make decisions about purchasing, and reconcile invoices.
Knowledge of basic safety and risk management practices as they apply to large student performance groups including travel, performances, and retreats.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:
Experience using social media proficiently and effectively for a student serving organization.
Experience with fundraising opportunities to support organizational operations.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
Skills to motivate and coordinate student employees.
Knowledge of student development theory and practice to assist students in their development of leadership and life-long learning skills.
Skills to represent the Department, Division, and University with a high degree of professionalism and integrity; strong professional ethics; stature and professional experience to inspire confidence and trust in colleagues, staff, faculty, and volunteers.
