Position Summary This position provides academic counseling and coordination for current, prospective and past graduate students in the School of Architecture in the College of Architecture, Design, and the Arts. Develops and implements academic, career, student, and alumni programs involving outreach to internal and external constituencies. Plans and facilitates programs and administrative systems to ensure that the graduate program meets the needs of students and faculty. Partners with the program director and/or director of graduate studies in formulating and executing academic programming and alumni relations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Outreach and Recruitment_
Develop and implement graduate recruitment activities.
Plan and coordinate recruitment events including, fairs, open houses, and campus visits.Work with the program director and/or faculty to identify and prepare fellowship nomination and/or recruitment offers
Promote the program through local, national, and international digital and print media.
Graduate Student Advisement
Coordinate admissions process and assist in all issues related to admissions, including applications, credentials assessments, and acceptances.
Develop and coordinate events for students including new student orientation year-end celebrations, and others
Assist incoming students with the course registration process.
Advise students in course selection, internship placement, and/or capstone/thesis requirements.
Analyze and track attrition, retention, and grade patterns; compile reports as requested.
Maintain all graduate academic files with material verification of degree progression as required by the program.
Work with graduating students to ensure awareness of graduation deadlines and requirements.
Update and develop materials for current and incoming students.
Schedule graduate classes.
Program Coordination and Teaching
Develop and conduct workshops on topics related to professional development.
Assist in the planning and execution of special projects including workshops, visiting lectures, popup exhibitions, community collaborations, etc.
Participate in curriculum planning meetings and discussions.
Assist adjunct and visiting faculty with technical questions related to classrooms, guest speakers, communications with students, etc.
Represent the program at university meetings, outside conferences, and other events as needed.
Alumni Communications
Maintain an up-to-date list of graduate program alumni.
Send regular communications to alumni to get updates on job placement, further education, publications, etc.
Track alumni employment for required program reporting.
Update the website and other outreach channels with news related to alumni success and opportunities.
Connect with alumni who will speak on behalf of the program at recruitment and yield events.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Fine Arts, Counseling, Education, or a field related to the position required. A minimum of two years of relevant academic work experience required. Strong management and organizational skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Prior experience handling confidential documents, materials, and/or proprietary information. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills. Ability to work with diverse populations; demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to socio-ethnic and cultural communication styles.
