Job Summary: | This position will function and serve as shift manager for Memorial Union restaurants: Strada, Carte, Terrace BBQ Stand and the Lakeview Lounge on the UW Madison campus. Job duties include: oversee quality food preparation, presentation, and customer service; guide and direct staff; oversee training and development of part time staff.
Our organization, the Wisconsin Union, is the social heart of UW-Madison, providing events, facilities, and activities for students, staff, faculty, thousands of Wisconsin Union members, and visitors. The Union also provides hands-on leadership experiences for hundreds of UW-Madison students. |
Responsibilities: | Oversees daily food service operations and performs food preparation activities in environments such as dining, retail, and/or catering venues to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve food service goals. - 20% Assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff
- 5% Develops and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
- 30% Leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities
- 15% Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
- 15% Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
- 10% Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
- 5% Enforcement of state and local drinking laws and University Policies and procedures.

Work Schedule: | The work schedule is flexible to include days, night and weekend availability. Schedule may vary depending on business needs and time of year. -This is a full time, 40 hours a week, position. -A night and weekend pay differential is included with this position. -No late nights are required or expected with this position. |

The Wisconsin Union operates two buildings on the UW-Madison campus. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by twenty-two food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $45 million dollars.
The Wisconsin Union is part of Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, led by the vice chancellor for student affairs. Our staff is dedicated to serving students and to helping them succeed in and out of the classroom in areas including health and well-being, identity and inclusion, leadership and engagement, and student advocacy.
