The Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development seeks a Senior Student Engagement Specialist to supervise our robust student staff program, manage peer-to-peer consulting services, and support career preparation initiatives for all Binghamton University students.
Student Engagement:
The Senior Student Engagement Specialist will be highly student-facing through one-on-one career consulting, programming, and the supervision of both undergraduate and graduate student staff members. This individual will be service-oriented and prioritize understanding and elevating the student experience in our office.
Career Preparation:
This individual will be a member of our Career Education and Preparation team and support connecting students with industry-specific resources, events, and employers/alumni to facilitate confidence in post-graduate planning. The Senior Student Engagement Specialist will work closely with the Senior Assistant Director for Career Education and Preparation to develop creative career readiness initiatives and support students in areas such as interviewing, job search strategy, negotiations, and more.
Core Responsibilities:
Lead 1:1 peer career coaching and programming through the management of the student staff program
Oversee the hiring, supervision, evaluation, and ongoing training for a variety of student staff positions including graduate assistants, senior peer consultants, and interns
Develop creative career preparation initiatives to connect students with resources related to mock interviews, creating a post-graduation plan, job search strategy, offer negotiation, and more
Manage engagement and utilization of career preparation resources and educational systems
Serve on one career cluster to connect students with industry-specific connections, resources, and information
Provide 1:1 career counseling support to students for appointment hours including supporting walk-in services
Requirements:

Master's degree in higher education or a related field and 2+ years of professional experience
Experience supervising or providing mentorship to professional, student or paraprofessional staff
Strategic thinker, with the ability to brainstorm and collaborate with a team to develop long-term strategies that support the career preparation of Binghamton University students
Experience working cooperatively and collaboratively with students, employers, staff, and faculty with diverse backgrounds.
Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to generate compelling educational content for specific audiences
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to balance administrative and student-facing responsibilities
Dedication and interest in staying up to date on industry trends and orchestrating staff professional development
The ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
Preferred:
Knowledge of career management and higher education systems, such as Handshake, Banner, and Brightspace
