Position Overview: 

The Student Engagement Graduate Assistant for Club Support is responsible for supporting the Department of Student Engagement, with particular focus on advising Brandeis♠~200 student organizations. The Department of Student Engagement (DSE) at Brandeis University empowers students to engage, learn, and lead on and off campus. DSE oversees all undergraduate student organizations, major campus events and traditions, community engagement and service experiences, fellowship programs, and various student spaces on campus. 

Position Responsibilities: 

Club Support - 50% 

  • Advise the Club Support Committee of the Brandeis Student Union, including regular meetings with the Club Support Committee Chair. 

  • Assist with the implementation and assessment of DSE new advising structure.

  • Advise a caseload of 5-10 clubs including regular check-ins, policy and budget advising, and assistance with event management. 

  • Coordinate training for club leaders at the beginning of each semester on topics related to club policy and best practices. 

  • Hold Event Support Meetings to assist clubs with the details of planning their events.

  • Assist with the club contract process for groups hiring external contractors.

Administration and Communication - 20% 

  • Support maintenance of the current student organization platform including content creation, event management, etc. 

  • Create and manage the weekly Club Leader Newsletter. 

  • Assist with the Department of Student Engagement social media and monthly newsletter, as it relates to club programming. 

  • Regularly help update club leader resources and Student Organization Handbook as needed.

⋠Leadership Development - 10% 

  • Assist with facilitation of leadership workshops and/or training for club leaders. Help implement and assess student achievement learning outcomes for the new leadership development model at Brandeis. 

Budgeting and Club Finance - 10% 

  • Support the Budget Analyst with club treasurer training throughout the year.

  • Advise clubs on best financial practices. 

  • Aide in policy development and streamlining of efficient club finance processes.

â‹Event Planning - 5% 

  • Assistance with coordination of the Fall and Winter Involvement Fairs 

  • Primary coordination of the Involvement Fairs during year 2 

  • Aiding in other Student Engagement events such as Back to Brandeis, Volunteerfest, Family Weekend, Winter Welcome, Celebration of Service, and Senior Week. 

Other Duties as Assigned - 5%

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Required to be pursuing a graduate degree in student affairs, college student personnel, higher education, or a related field 

  • Opportunity to continue in the second year, dependent on successful performance in the first year.

  • Interest and/or experience planning events and advising students. 

  • Interest and/or experience leading trainings and/or exposure to facilitating and presenting.

  • Ability to problem solve and work collaboratively with staff and students. 

  • Understanding of and commitment to Student Engagement mission, vision, and goals.

  • Interest and/or experience in social justice initiatives and supporting department goals around topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion 

  • Work will primarily be in person, with opportunities for remote work a few hours per week.

Note: as part of this position, some night and/or weekend work may be required.
