POSITION DETAILS
New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college in downtown Brooklyn offering 58 associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for the Director of the Student Wellness and Counseling Center.
Reporting to the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, the Director of the Student Wellness and Counseling Center oversees and coordinates a comprehensive range of wellness and counseling services to support the overall well-being of City Tech students. Primary responsibilities include the creation of a holistic and inclusive environment that promotes student wellness, enhancing the student college experience.
Overall, the Director of the Student Wellness and Counseling Center at City Tech, plays a vital role in creating a supportive and healthy campus environment that enhances the overall well-being of students. By providing leadership, guidance, and access to counseling services and fitness programs, the director contributes to the academic success, personal growth, and retention of City Tech students.
Key duties and responsibilities would include but are not limited to:
Overall coordination and implementation of strategic vision for the Student Wellness and Counseling Center at City Tech. Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision of the Center clinical team of counselors, health/wellness educator, and support staff.
Oversee the provision of counseling services to students, including individual counseling, group therapy, crisis intervention, and referral services. Ensure that counseling services are accessible, confidential, and culturally sensitive to meet the diverse needs of City Tech students.
Prepare and administer wellness education programs and workshops that address various aspects of student wellness, such as stress management, healthy relationships, nutrition, and mental health awareness. Collaborate with Student Life and Development (SLD), faculty and staff to integrate wellness education into the curriculum and campus activities.
Develop and implement outreach initiatives to raise awareness about wellness resources and services available at the Student Wellness and Counseling Center. Collaborate with student organizations, campus departments, and community partners to develop programs that address the specific needs of City Tech students.
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate counseling and wellness staff, and other personnel within the Student Wellness Center. Foster a supportive and collaborative work environment that promotes professional growth and development.
Develop and manage the budget for the Student Wellness and Counseling Center, ensuring effective and efficient use of resources. Seek external funding opportunities and grants to enhance services and programs.
Collaborate with other campus departments, academic units, and external organizations to promote a comprehensive approach to student wellness. Establish partnerships with local fitness centers, health providers, and community organizations to expand wellness opportunities for City Tech students.
Implement a system for collecting and analyzing data on counseling services, fitness programs, and student outcomes. Use data to assess the effectiveness of services and make data-driven decisions for program improvement.
Serve as an advocate for the Student Wellness and Counseling Center student needs within the City Tech community. Collaborate with student organizations and student government (SGA) to address concerns, promote awareness, and advocate for policy changes that support student wellness.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Doctoral degree in Psychology to include Ph.D. and Psy.D. programs OR Master's degree in an appropriate discipline for personal or psychological counseling, and a New York State license as a mental health practitioner (social work, psychology, or mental health counseling) required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A doctoral degree is preferred.
A minimum of five (5) years of documented progressive clinical and managerial experience in counseling center administration with provision of supervision in a mental health and wellness setting.
Professional experience in a college or university setting.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$115,333-$141,858. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
