Tarleton State University is seeking highly motivated applicants for the position of Assistant Rodeo Coach.
The Assistant Rodeo Coach provides visionary leadership to enhance the Department of Rodeo Activities. Responsible for helping with all event coaching in both arenas, and responsible for helping with annual NIRA rodeo, alumni rodeo, and production class rodeos. Assists with all recruiting needs. Helps monitor academic and conduct issues of NIRA competitors. Assists with all fundraising efforts to include yearly Auction/Dinner, jackpots, rodeos, and other special events. Responsible for helping with livestock care, stall area, and arena upkeep. Responsible for the budget and supervision of all student employees in the office and at the rodeo practice facilities. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). Â Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate, including some weekends. Must be able to work remotely at the request of the University.
Responsibilities:
-50% Coaching Duties
Provides visionary leadership to enhance the Department of Rodeo Activities. Coaches student athletes individually and in groups, and demonstrates rodeo performance techniques. Develops performance strategy and event assignments. Plans coaching and practice sessions in accordance with regulations. Instructs student athletes on physical health and safety. Instructs student athletes in the rules and fundamentals of their sport. Monitors and maintains the discipline and conduct of student athletes to support the image and reputation of the rodeo program. Ensures adherence to all Association, and University rules by student athletes and supporting staff. Helps monitor academic and conduct issues of NIRA competitors.

Assists with all fundraising efforts to include yearly Auction/Dinner, jackpots, rodeos, and other special events.

-30% Facilities
Management Responsible for helping with livestock care, stall area, and arena upkeep.

-5% Assessment and Evaluation
Helps to develop, implements and evaluates departmental goals, policies, organizational structure, and program effectiveness. Responsible for helping with all assessment activities for the department and responsible for helping with producing annual reports.

-5% Professional Development and Other Duties:
Participates in appropriate professional development activities related to the effective completion of professional responsibilities. Represents the department and the Division of Student Affairs at University functions when appropriate. Assumes responsibility for other special projects and committee work as delegated. Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
4 years of rodeo coaching and rodeo related experience; Excellent communication skills and ability to supervise and motivate others, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelorâ™s degree in a related field

The target base annual salary is commensurate with experience and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
